Around the world, shipping terminals make up the hub of movement for most products. Vessels are loaded with a variety of Shipping Containers, each is loaded with goods destined for a distribution point then to a customer. The volume of containers shipped per year is staggering. Even more so is the capacity of the Shipping Ports used to load and offload the containers.
Terminals are in constant movement. Many can accommodate Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCVs) which can hold up to 7500 40 ft Containers. These are offloaded using STS or Ship to Shore Cranes then moved into the yards using RMG or rail mounted galley cranes to load or offload trucks. An average terminal can move over 1 Million 40 ft. containers per year.
Health and Safety Compliance is of the utmost importance. Cistera’s R2R (Radio to Radio) recording solutions assist and allow the terminal Health and Safety teams monitor and record the constant radio traffic between the STS operators and ground crews. There are 3 major objectives that Cistera R2R addresses
• Continued compliance with operation policies and safety processes
• Training or corrective action for operators and crews
• conduct comprehensive and substantive After-Action Reviews in the event of accidents or mishaps involving personnel or movement of containers.
In addition, terminals fall under scrutiny by agencies such as Department of Homeland Security as they are the first point of contact for vessels and shipment of goods. DHS constantly monitors and reviews movement of ships and containers and completes regular audits of shipping terminals for compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and other standards. Site communications are an essential part of this process.
Cistera’s R2R offering can be implemented several ways and takes advantage of existing communication environments without the need to add expensive and sometime complicated hardware and software.
Customer Integrated –
Customer supplied mobile base stations to be used for monitoring channels designated to be recorded (one radio per channel or radios may be programmed for multiple channels). Software installs into the customers VM environment and connects to the radios via a Radio over IP (RoIP) Gateway.
Cistera Integrated, Portable Unit
Customer or Cistera supplied mobile base stations to be used for monitoring channels designated to be recorded (one radio per channel or radios may be programmed for multiple channels). Radios, Radio power supply and Radio over IP gateway are installed into a portable case. This connects thru the internal WAN to the customers VM running the Cistera R2R Software
Cistera Integrated – TurnKey System
Customer or Cistera supplied mobile base stations to be used for monitoring channels designated to be recorded (one radio per channel or radios may be programmed for multiple channels). Cistera provides a full integrated system which include the Radios, Radio power supply, Radio over IP gateway, Router and a single 1U R2R Recording Application Server in a rolling rack. This integration is custom designed based on parameters provided by the customer.
